Osagen, personalized medicine for Basque Country
Pioneer healthcare in the Basque Country

Challenge
To unify clinical genomics within Osakidetza, the Basque Public Healthcare Service.
Solution
Genomcore BIMS developed a platform to unify all clinical genomics.
Results
The project enabled centralized, secure, and scalable management of genomic data across Osakidetza. It improved traceability, reduced fragmentation of genomic services, and allowed integration with clinical workflows and research use cases.
Location
Basque Country, Spain
About
Osakidetza is the Public Healthcare Service of the Basque Country, recognized for its innovation in digital health. With a strong commitment to precision medicine, it pioneers genomic integration into routine care for equitable, efficient, and advanced diagnostics.
features used in this project
- Unified Multimodal Datastore
- Full NGS pipelines
- Visual and customizable interface
- ACMG and AMP variant classification (manual and automated)
- Interoperability via APIs and standard ontologies (HPO, HGNC, OMIM...)
- Role-based access and pseudonymization tools
- Integration with external platforms
Project
Project: Genomcore BIMS Deployment for Comprehensive Clinical Genomics
The project involved the deployment of Genomcore BIMS, a modular platform supporting the entire clinical genomics lifecycle — from raw data processing to clinical reporting. The system supports primary, secondary, and tertiary NGS analysis, integrates seamlessly with healthcare systems, and enables role-based data access. The infrastructure was scaled to all genomic units within Osakidetza, facilitating both clinical and research use. Training and custom use-case modules ensured optimal adoption and deployment across all departments.
Connected hospitals
The hospitals connected through the OSAGEN project are:

- Araba University Hospital (Vitoria-Gasteiz)
- Cruces University Hospital (Barakaldo)
- Donostia University Hospital (Donostia-San Sebastián)
All three centers are part of the Health Research Institutes (IIS) of the Public Health System of Basque Country (Osakidetza).
