

Converging Clinical Genomics and Research in Riojan Healthcare

La Rioja lacked a unified corporate repository to efficiently manage its genomic data. The primary challenge was to consolidate fragmented information generated by various sequencers and analytical platforms, effectively bridging SERIS's clinical environments with CIBIR's research operations.
We deployed Genomcore BIMS within a hybrid architecture integrated with the PASCAL data lake. This multimodal solution automatically captures, processes, and normalizes genetic data, delivering advanced tools for variant interpretation and bioinformatic reanalysis.
The implementation establishes a region-wide variant library fully interoperable with the national SIGenES node. This optimizes diagnostic turnaround times, facilitates secure collaborative networks, and lays the technological foundation for precision medicine and population health in La Rioja.

By leveraging the BIMS architecture, the platform not only stores massive volumes of data within its UMD multimodal repository, but also orchestrates advanced bioinformatic workflows and features bidirectional integration with hospital systems and the PASCAL data lake.
Furthermore, its federated and standardized design stands out, guaranteeing seamless, automated interoperability with the National Variant Library under the Ministry of Health's SIGenES project.
Ultimately, this democratizes data access, driving more efficient and accurate clinical decisions for an advanced, sustainable, and deeply patient-centered population health model.
The platform deployed for the healthcare system of La Rioja features an architecture designed according to principles of maximum security and legal compliance. Genomcore holds a fundamental triple certification: ISO 27001 for Information Security Management, ISO 27017 specifically for cloud security, and ISO 27018 for the protection of personal data. Furthermore, service execution through Ednon is backed by ISO 20000 certifications for technological quality, as well as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. The entire ecosystem ensures compliance with the European GDPR and is adapted to the rigorous requirements of the National Security Scheme (ENS) for critical health data.
