The Valencian Community has taken a decisive step towards consolidating precision medicine with the launch of GenVAL, its new Corporate Genomic Data Platform. This digital infrastructure, which places the region at the forefront of data-driven healthcare, relies on Genomcore BIMS technology to centralize, manage, and analyze genetic information across the entire regional public health system.
A scalable and secure cloud infrastructure
The GenVAL project, backed by a €4.5 million investment, is a key component of the Ministry of Health's Digital Health Strategy. The platform has been designed using a cloud-native architecture that ensures data security and sovereignty, enabling full interoperability with electronic health records (EHR).
By implementing Genomcore BIMS, genomic data is no longer isolated in departmental silos. Instead, information flows in a standardized and secure manner, becoming a strategic asset for real-time clinical decision-making.
Clinical impact and processing capacity
The platform is linked to the central sequencing node at the Hospital Universitari i Politècnic La Fe, equipped with state-of-the-art technology (NovaSeq X Plus) capable of processing up to 20,000 genomes per year.
GenVAL enables the application of personalized medicine in critical areas:
- Precision Oncology: Tailoring cancer treatments based on the patient's genetic profile.
- Rare Diseases: Streamlining genetic diagnosis to reduce clinical uncertainty.

Integration into the Spanish National Health System
GenVAL not only transforms healthcare in Valencia but also integrates into the national SIGenES project (Information System for the integration of genomic information into the National Health System). This connection ensures data governance aligned with national standards, facilitating knowledge exchange and improving equitable access to advanced genomic testing.
With this implementation, Genomcore reaffirms its commitment to providing the technological tools necessary for healthcare systems to scale precision medicine from the laboratory to daily clinical practice.
